How Dogs Learn

Three keystones for dog’s training are:

  1. Patience
  2. Practice
  3. Perseverance

A dog always learns from your actions. If your action or behavior shows pleasure on any of your dog’s act then your dog or puppy will repeat it. On the other hand if you show him an unpleasant behavior, the dog will try not to repeat that act.

During training you have to show him what you want from him to do by giving him toys or food etc. If your dog performs that work or action, you should give reward to him by saying some praiseful words to him or by giving him something what it like. At the same time give a command word for that action. So that he will repeat that action with that word.

For example, to teach your dog to go back in his crate, give him the command word “Go Back” and take the dog to crate. After some repetition the dog will be habitual of that command word.

To speed up the training of your dog, use some special praise words that show him that he had done a correct job or use a whistle. To show the meaning of that word, first say that word and then give a small treat to the dog. Once your dog is habitual of commands, there is no need to give food. You have to train your dog with commands on daily basis, so that he will keep them in mind for a long term.

ne more thing which you should keep in mind at the time of giving training to your dog is that the dog should be quite and under controlled in training time, else it will not learn anything. Don’t worry or get excited if your dog is not learning anything from training. Because it will take its own time.
